Zoe Boekbinder & Dustin Hamman - Among Horses II (2018)

It’s a long and bumpy road to Mas Casanova. The hills are covered with old horses. Grazing, shivering in the cold wind of early winter.

I See Rivers - Dad Ram - 2017

“This is vocal harmonising at its exquisite expert best.” – Fresh On The Net Faves, BBC 6 Music blog

Hailing from the Northern, Southern and Western parts of Norway, the now Liverpool-based trio I SEE RIVERS creates an organic musical landscape they’ve dubbed ”Float Folk”. With memorable melodies and untraditional harmonies their soundscape can be associated with artists such as Fleet Foxes, Sufjan Stevens and Feist. After releasing their single “Loved Ones” and touring the rural parts of Norway, playing festivals such as Belladrum (Scotland), Green Man (Wales) and Malakoff (NO), the girls did their biggest tour to date supporting Newton Faulkner all around the UK and are now preparing for this summer’s festival season with great festivals to be released. The girls have also recorded and produced their debut EP being released April 2017 with the lead single ‘DA RUM’.

“Their music is delicate Folk Pop based around clever vocal arrangements, and outstanding vocals. They just look so natural performing together, and have a level of cohesion that is genuine, rare and pretty special too». - Nordic Music Review

“Perhaps the hottest prospect from Norway’s consistent excellent outpouring of specially tender bands, this now UK-based trio make the kind of indefinable Scandinavian magic that instantly catches the eyes and ears. Part-folk, part swooning pop songs.” – Green Man Festival 2016.

American Anymen + Lise OUI EP - 2016

"The two American Anymen + LISE albums present more personal songs.  These 4 new songs are about how I dealt with my time in prison, my 13-year battle with heroin addiction, the memories of friends who made me happy but are not around to hear these new songs, and how the world is much simpler than the ruling elites make us think," explains Brett Sullivan.

Elder Sister Plum - Lost Souls - Single 2016

It is with love and respect that I acknowledge that this track and the associated album were recorded on the ancestral, traditional and unceded Indigenous territories of the Lekwungen First Nations.

Pascal Pinon - Sunder - 2016

Pascal Pinon's third album is the Icelandic duo's rawest and yet most diverse musical statement within the frame of their Folk-influenced, minimalistic sound. Produced only by themselves, "Sundur" comprises material written over the course of 1 ½ years. While most parts of the album are sparsely orchestrated and follow the experimental lo-fi-leaning aesthetics of the duo's previous two records, the overall tone has become rawer with its metronome-like rhythms, occasional synth lines and driving piano melodies.

My 2015 - Ostrea Lake - Rippling Waters Ep

A dynamic three piece indie folk band from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ostrea Lake's music gently rises and swells, sometimes rippling, often calm. Centering strongly around the rich vocal abilities of lead singer and baritone ukulele player Elias Abi Daoud, Ostrea Lake builds powerful and enchanting songs. Rippling Waters EP brings forward their most melodically driven and carefully crafted music to date.

My 2015 - Girlpool - before the world was big

When I was seven or eight, my parents started to let me walk to the park by myself. It was only a few blocks away, but it felt like the biggest deal, like this was the furthest in life that I could go and, wow, wasn’t it far! I had a sense of freedom and wonder then that I’ve never felt since and, as my horizons have broadened, I can’t help but feel more constricted, and sometimes I wish I could relive those early days when my biggest accomplishment for the day was touching the top of the pole on the swing set. Girlpool’s “Before The World Was Big” takes place about a decade after that elated feeling, when you’re in high school and the place where you grew up is now grubby and familiar, and you’re just counting down the days until you can get out. stereogum

Much like a certain overwrought island drama, the dramatic tension of Girlpool’s debut LP Before the World Was Big comes about because its main characters have to go back. Unlike Lost, the Philadelphia-based indie pop duo is concerned not with a return to a secluded world of violence and mystery but the sunny, welcoming oasis of adolescence. Full of misty-eyed idealism, Harmony Tividad and Cleo Tucker construct Blake-ian (but not Bono-vian) songs of innocence — creaky cries for a return to the greener grass of the recent past. spin

Dubb Nubb - It's Weird In This World - 2015

Twin sisters playing folk songs and love stories from the Midwest. We want to play music in your living room and meet your dog.

Dubb Nubb songs are sweet and mean, and the stories paint a colorful map inspired by highways and cities, nature and concrete, love and loss. Delia and Hannah sing the kind of harmonies that only twins can make over classical inspired guitar, ukulele, and poetic yet fierce songwriting.

From St. Louis Missouri, the 23 year-old sisters have been playing music in their own scene and beyond since they were 15. They have independently released five albums and EPs, including 2013’s ‘Wild Dreamin’ and the recent 2015 release, ‘It’s Weird In This World.’ River Front Times described ‘Wild Dreamin’ as “elliptical songs about travel and roots and friendship that don't tell stories as much as they establish moods.”

The Kickstand Band - In the Sun - 2015

"Smith and Young harmonize in a trashy almost haphazard rock 'n' roll way that is both raw and sweet... and there's a surfy element that is instantly infectious. Think the '50s punkabilly of The Cramps and the breezy pop brilliance of The Beach Boys, all mixed up in a Boone's Farm warehouse." - Detroit Metronomes

"Rudderless - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" (14 songs; 37 min.) packs a LOT of music in a short amount of time. Basically, you can divide up the soundtrack into three groups: first there is the music brought by Billy Crudup's character and/or his band Rudderless; then there is the mostly instrumental and most short tunes brought as intermezzos by Eef Barzelay; and then there is "the rest". Of course it's the Crudup/Rudderless tunes that carry the weight of the movie, and hence get the closest scrutiny. I was surprised how strong Crudup's voice is, check out the opener "Home", but even better yet, check out the soundtrack's (and also movie's) closer, "Sing Along", which he brings with full emotion. I admit it got the best of me as I was watching it on the big screen. Rudderless isn't named after a Lemonheads song by coincidence. Rudderless goes after a similar vibe, check out "Beautiful Mess" and later "Wheels on The Bus", starting out deceivingly slow and then simply exploding. (It makes for a great scene in the movie.) As to "the rest" of the soundtrack, there is an appearance from none other than Ben Kweller at the open mic night in the movie, and that song "Hold On" is included here (I don't know why Selena Gomez is on here, she plays a small if slightly bizarre role in the movie but was not featured on this song). Rounding out things is Ben Limpic. Bottom line: "Rudderless" is a great soundtrack, full of heartfelt performances.
