Color Collage • Eye On You • 2019

came here on my own volition
To try and learn about the human condition
I seen a mother of one become a mother of two
Neither one of us knows what weʼre gonna do

Yeah I know weʼre all lost out here
With no way back home
Iʼm gonna need someone to watch my back
Itʼs not safe no more

Baby I'ma keep an eye on you

Margaret Atwood and Vonnegut were right
Went from fiction to fact, pretty much overnight
We might see the end of the world
But Iʼll meet you in the bunker cuz I love you, girl

Yeah I know weʼre all lost out here
With no way back home
Iʼm gonna need someone to watch my back
Itʼs not safe no more

Sands • The Phoenix • 2019

‘Lonely Circus’ shows Sands in a bittersweet mood. A playful guitar melody dances around tightly structured chords with Sands vocals sitting atop the mix in a psychedelic haze. Underneath this mazy sound, Sands vocals provide a sense of melancholia adding another level of depth to the song.

Louise Lemón • Montaña • 2019

“Louise Lemón's stunning brand of "death gospel" shines bright on her gorgeously depressing single "Not Enough," the story of a doomed relationship that flexes the full range of the singer's soulful voice” Revolver Magazine [US]

“It’s dark, it’s claustrophobic, and quite brilliant” Ja Ja Ja

“Haunting and impressive” NBHAP

“Death-gospel is fast becoming 2018’s sound of the underground – and Louise Lemón could be its breakout star” Louder

John Van Duesen • Whatever Makes You Mine • 2019

This song was produced by Andy D. Park at Ranchland Studios in Cisco, TX. We used the skeleton of my lodge demo and added and subtracted until we found what we wanted sonically. The drums were played by my good friend Braydn Krueger, whose aggression and energy really helped kick the song into high gear.

Recording in the middle of nowhere, hanging out and watching scary movies was a dream that suited this track perfectly.

This year I'll be writing new music, playing more shows, working on a sci-fi screenplay and hopefully getting a puppy and greenhouse for my wife.

Jacob Faurholt • The Dark Isn't Right • 2019

Jacob Faurholt is one of Denmark’s most prolific songwriters. He has released more than 10 albums, both solo and under the moniker Crystal Shipsss - his more experimental project. The nine songs on Shake Off The Fear cover well-known themes from Faurholt’s own musical output. He writes about life, love and the anxieties that come with them. Always in an immediate and personal way, with nods to heroes like Daniel Johnston, Conor Oberst, and Sparklehorse’s Mark Linkous. The opening track, Stargazing, combines images from a vacation in Spain with the fear of flying and losing your mind and your loved ones. Another song, The Burning Ship, touches on the loss of a childhood friend in the Scandinavian Star ferry disaster in 1990. It’s a song that cherishes life while recognizing its frailty.

TEENAGE CAVEGIRL • "Space Girl" • 2019

Don’t be fooled by their appearance. They’re not a 60s throwback, they aren’t 70s punk purists and they don’t worship 80's nostalgia. Teenage Cavegirl is L.A. and Andy Ray and they play primal rock ‘n’ roll to make you move.

After self-releasing a 45 and sharing bills with Holly Golightly, The Scientists and Fred & Toody of Dead Moon, the Austin duo’s debut 10″, Candy Cigarettes, is here at last.

The first nine stripped-down songs were tracked live to 2″ analog tape with no overdubbed instruments to capture their live energy and sound and employed their minimalist set up: L.A.’s vocals, guitar, a tom and a snare. They were cut at Big Orange Studio in East Austin by Stuart Sikes, whose credits include The Oblivians, A Giant Dog and The White Stripes breakout album White Blood Cells. The closing number is a gritty take on Jimmy Hannah’s neglected doo-wop soul single “Leavin’ Here” recorded by Leather Girls bandleader Erik Camacho and sung by Andy Ray.

The Claim • Journey • 2019

"Upon listening to their new material, it would seem that The Claim has not missed a beat since reaching their pinnacle in the early 90s. Their new album is loaded with upbeat, catchy, jangly earworms with lyrics that are full of meaning. ‘Journey’ in particular holds great significance in a Brexit-plagued Britain" – The Spill Magazine

The Mooks • Let It All Fall Down • 2019

Colatura • Machine • 2019

"The track features a galloping drum line that maintains the pulse under a layer of cleanly distorted guitars and richly melodic bass. The track merges its influences into a unique hybrid consisting of power-pop bravado à la The Breeders with a surf rock motion to the rhythm."

TBTCI ends here and now, and our last adventure simply doesn´t need presentations, after all Disintegration is a masterpiece in block letters. For many, The Cure´s the best record, but it doesn´t matter, what really matters is that we all love it unconditionally, and that is enough.

 I need a cigarette
Those fuckers talked over my whole set
But I don't have any time to reflect
I gotta sell some shirts to try and make the rent
I think I'm sick of transit
My anxiety is spinning on a compass
I used to be a romantic
Now I'm a dude in a laminate
I can't see shit, I'm blinded by the light
I swore that I'd quit but I need a drink tonight
I'm on the road with no one I love in sight
I swore that I'd quit but I need a drink tonight
And make that drink stiff
I gotta drown out this emptiness
I'm tired of playing all my old hits
But my new songs are too depressing
I'm hungover in a hotel bed
I'm gonna hop in a big red van
Go to some city, do it all again
I hope tonight it turns out different

Reflective Tapes #100 • 2019

REF-100 is a milestone I didn't think we'd ever reach with this little label. When I started "Reflective Tapes" I figured I'd just create an identity for all of my little one-offs and bands and stuff. It's been a wonderful experience interacting with some of my best friends and favorite DIY bands/musicians in this context

British trip-hop pioneers Morcheeba are releasing a remix of their song “Free of Debris” from French DJ/Producer Folamour.
