The Ladybug Transistor • The Albemarle Sound (25th Anniversary Expanded Edition) • 2024
For the 25th anniversary of The Albemarle Sound, the record has been lovingly reissued on silver vinyl by Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records. The CD includes 12 bonus tracks which break open the year-long recording process with the inclusion of rare B-sides, four-track demos, instrumentals and alternate mixes, further highlighting the band’s mastery of songcraft while teasing out the intricate worlds those songs contain, making a case, as fans of The Ladybug Transistor have known for decades now, that The Albemarle Sound is as infinitely rewarding to return to as it is to visit for the first time.

Endless Forms • Everything Still Waits for Me • 2020
Endless Forms is the solo project of Tulsa-based artist Justin Allen. In the wake of breaking off an engagement and dropping out of college, Allen began Endless Forms earnestly in 2014 as a therapeutic creative outlet. After a few close friends heard demos and insisted he play live by offering to be his backing band, Allen began taking Endless Forms on the road all while recording two albums under the name in 2014 and 2017.
Amidst lineup changes and fielding licensing offers (eventually securing an appearance on an upcoming episode of Netflix’s Elite), Allen decided to put Endless Forms on hiatus in 2017 to focus on other creative outlets.

The period between then and this May’s comeback LP More Than Candy was anything but a lull for Allen. Finding time to write a novel about the Los Angeles art scene while taking up weekly marathons and producing music, he decided it was time to start working on a third Endless Forms album in the wake of a friend shelving a record they’d been working on. Initially started as a set of ambient tracks, Candy became Endless Forms’ most fully-fledged foray into pop-minded songcraft while holding onto elements of its ambient origins.

Her Harbour - Go Gently Into the Night - 2017
The mood is vague and dream-like throughout but such blurriness lends an ever greater sense of both intrigue and wonderment to the track, which, while shaped by solemnity, exudes a sense of calm and, perhaps, hope, amid the surrounding gloam.

Bryan John Appleby - The Narrow Valley - 2015
Randy Jones I've been following Bryan's music for years and the immense amount of detail and craftsmanship put into this record is monumental. It's like a beautiful china doll that you marvel at until Bryan comes in to smash it, and with that your perception of what you expect him to do. Definitely Album Of The Year material right here.

Leonard Cohen – Can’t Forget: A Souvenir Of The Grand Tour - 2015
In the summer of 2012, Leonard Cohen, then 77 years old, set off on the road in support of his newest album Old Ideas. The tour would last for more than a year and take him around Europe and North America (then Europe and North America again) before finally wrapping up in Australia and New Zealand.
The tour, much like most things the Montreal bard touches, became legendary, with the shows noted for their 3-plus hour running times, multiple encores and his intimate, heartfelt and humorous stage banter.
If you missed him on that tour, consider this a second chance. Can’t Forget: a Souvenir of the Grand Tour.
