For Ukraine (Volume 1) • 2022

Sometimes there are words to describe all the outrage. Sometimes there are protests with signs that are blank. On the first volume of this benefit compilation, a diverse representation of musicians from ambient and modern classical communities come together to speak with their music.

100% of all the proceeds (excluding Bandcamp's revenue share and payment processor fees) will be donated to International Rescue Committee (rescue.org) to support displaced children and families with vital supplies during the Crisis in Ukraine.

Please help and support our message. Thank you.

Jason Lytle • NYLONANDJUNO • 2020

On July 27, 2019 Jason Lytle came to Dallas to be a part of Good Records grand opening of their new location. The event took place a few weeks before the release of Arthur King Presents Jason Lytle: NYLONANDJUNO, an experimental album and Lytle’s first new solo LP release in more than 7 years.
The store borrowed a piano from the recording studio next door and captured a night to remember with a one-man director/editor/cameraman powerhouse named Steven Gaddis (Live From The Astroturf, Alice Cooper/Cacophony! Cinematic Aural Revue Film Festival). Chris Penn, the store’s co-owner began brainstorming potential fundraising opportunities to help keep the store afloat while its brick and mortar operations have ceased due to COVID-19. He remembered that the footage had been shot but not edited of Jason Lytle’s performance. He got Steven to put it together so he could pitch to Jason Lytle who graciously agreed to its release as a way to help out the store.

The show is an amazing 14 song career-spanning retrospective of Grandaddy and Jason Lytle solo material that clocks in at one hour ten minutes. The film will be making its debut this Saturday (and be available whilst Good Records is temporarily closed) via Vimeo On Demand. There are two options for donating: a 3-day rental or a buy/download option which you can access here.

Floating In Space - Dreamland - 2018

Expanding far beyond the band's earlier piano-driven motif to focus on organic melody, every song on Dreamland is brilliantly structured and realized...each an impressive soundscape worthy of the act's name. A truly timeless, uplifting and enlightening album, each note on Dreamland has a purpose. Each choir-like vocal cadence is well measured. You will hear love and inspiration in each flourish of the guitar and each syncopated beat of the drum. Sweeping across every conceivable emotion with cinematic showmanship, Floating In Space pierces the psyche in a way reserved only for the upper echelons of post-rock

Trevor Ransom - Spring EP (2018)

Now based back in his home city of Seattle, he’s ready to present his most accomplished creations to date with the 'Spring' EP. This body of work continues to utilize elements found on his previous releases – atmospheric field recordings, warm electronic production, dynamic compositions – but also finds him exploring new ways to implement his voice.

Kishi Bashi - String Quartet Live! - 2015

Recorded live with string quartet, the new album (appropriately titled "String Quartet Live!") consists of nine songs from both “151a” and “Lighght” (and one Talking Heads cover!), performed live by K and an accompanying string ensemble. Where his first two releases featured an array of percussion and electronic elements, the new live album finds K’s familiar songs reimagined, allowing his soaring vocals to take center stage above a foundation of interweaving strings.

The string ensemble gives new life to these tracks, with updated arrangements and the infectious energy that can only come from Kishi Bashi's amazing live performances.

Bryan John Appleby - The Narrow Valley - 2015

Randy Jones I've been following Bryan's music for years and the immense amount of detail and craftsmanship put into this record is monumental. It's like a beautiful china doll that you marvel at until Bryan comes in to smash it, and with that your perception of what you expect him to do. Definitely Album Of The Year material right here.
