JAD FAIR • DANIELSON • KRAMER - "IN A LONELY PLACE" • 2023

"'Nocturne,' as it emerges from a gentle chaos, channels straight into a resonant bed of living breathing emotion via the classic simplicity of reverbed piano chords, a pattering heartbeat rhythm and the layering on of spare, echoic, slightly eerie effects that manage edgy and soothing in equal measure. By the time Britta’s vocals arrive you’re so primed for full immersion that surrender is really you’re only option."

Theo Bard • Forget • 2019

There's this darkness in the track so we shot performance takes with just one light in a pitch dark room. May rotoscoped from the footage in order to create handmade images of my face, which she could play with and distort. We wanted to capture the idea that the more you try to forget something, the more you think or talk about it, the longer it stays in your memory. So every time I open my mouth, the same head emerges unchanged. That's the memory coming back over and over again, like a ghost that won't stop haunting you.
As the song progresses, the elements get more and more psychedelic, but still the head returns, a carbon copy of itself.

It's dark and beautiful.
It's strange and melodic.
It's not what you expected.

Porches - Water - 2016

Aaron Maine's Porches follows the release of this year's acclaimed Pool with the Water EP – a new standalone insight into the music that formed the melodic skeleton of Pool, alongside a pair of previously unreleased songs in 'Black Dress' and 'Black Budweiser T-Shirt'. Recorded solo in his adopted home of New York City, the Water EP strips Maine's work down to its core, opening the curtain on his musical metamorphosis from previous releases Slow Dance In The Cosmos and those of his alias, Ronald Paris, into the Porches of today.

Low - The Exit Papers - 2016

Looking forward to this one…

At the turn of the 21st Century, sandwiched between two of their most iconic albums – Secret Name and Things We Lost In The Fire – Low released The Exit Papers as part of Temporary Residence Ltd.'s long-running CD subscription series, Travels In Constants. A sparse suite of six mostly instrumental pieces composed for a film that never existed, The Exit Papers still stands as Low's most haunting and experimental work.

Altamina - Tomorrow Morning Will Be Tonight - 2016

Spacey and atmospheric, Altamina plant their feet firmly in the ground and stretch their arms into the sky. Achieving a deep, rich sound with ambient, yet driving instrumentals and San Fermin-like vocals, Tomorrow Morning Will Be Tonight rides the genre line along with acts like The National and The Antlers.
