Mat Ball • Album Trailer for "Amplified Guitar" LP • The Garrote • 2022

Mat Ball's Amplified Guitar is out today. It's as monumental as it is approachable and memorable. The fledgling label behind this release, The Garrote, is proving itself to be an operation that approaches everything with utmost care and it's just that which can be said about this short album trailer / documentary which they have produced and are sharing today. In it, you can glimpse Mat's process and clips of a conversation that we had last month in Montreal. Do check it out. And if you were already planning to cover this release, don't hesitate to use this video in your coverage!

Best of 2020 • Sol Seppy • I.A.A.Y.A Part One

What Sophie Michalitsianos has created, using barely more than her voice, piano, and cello, is magical, defying labels. Originally released as a private-press CD for her fans, I.A.A.Y.A, or I Am As You Are, is sublime, intimate, weightless, and comforting. The album takes its time yet feels urgent, like you need this music, this moment.

Sylvan Esso • Coffee • 2020

Sylvan Esso

WITH captures the final two performances of Sylvan Esso’s unique fall 2019 tour. The limited run of shows saw the band expand by magnitudes, bringing in loads of backing musicians with impressive pedigrees. Drummer Matt McCaughan (Bon Iver), bassist/synth player/keyboardist Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak), synth player Dev Gupta (Mr. Twin Sister), and drummer Joe Westerlund (Mandolin Orange) were all part of the live band. What’s more, Sylvan Esso singer Amelia Meath’s bandmates from Mountain Man, Molly SarlĂ© and Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, also joined in on vocals.

Thomas Charlie Pedersen • Daylight Saving Hours • 2020

I´m the lead singer and guitarist of the Danish alternative rock band Vinyl Floor. ’Daylight Saving Hours’ is my second solo effort. The album was made at an apartment in Nørrebro, Copenhagen and was recorded and mixed by my brother Daniel Pedersen who is also the drummer of Vinyl Floor. ‘Daylight Saving Hours’ continues the acoustic and minimalistic stylings as heard on my first album ‘Second Hand War’ (2016) albeit a tad more arranged this time. We’ve utilized strings, vocal harmonies, alternate guitar tunings and we´ve experimented with noise and reversed sounds during the recording. The project started out as demo recordings but I´ve decided to release these songs because I want to present them as raw as possible and because I want to preserve the feel of how they were written.

The Great Escape - Possibilities - 2019

Back with a brand-new, seductively minimalist sound that’s nevertheless still raw around the edges, “Possibilities” perfectly encapsulates The Great Escape’s new approach: playful, sexy and flirtatious, the single manages to feel confident and mysterious at the same time. Whereas singer Hanna Leess’ voice sounds more like a modern-day northern fairy queen (think Icelandic mic slinger 2019), it’s a psychedelic underwater tune that, in its eclectic minimalism, mirrors the countless possibilities we face as human beings – and the resulting uniqueness of each moment that passes.

Low - The Exit Papers - 2016

Looking forward to this one…

At the turn of the 21st Century, sandwiched between two of their most iconic albums – Secret Name and Things We Lost In The Fire – Low released The Exit Papers as part of Temporary Residence Ltd.'s long-running CD subscription series, Travels In Constants. A sparse suite of six mostly instrumental pieces composed for a film that never existed, The Exit Papers still stands as Low's most haunting and experimental work.

bosque brown - Us - 2015

"Us" is a record as my sister says "is sensitive not sad." Bosque Brown is me and whoever is in my life at the time. Once it was me and four others.. Once it was me and my husband... Once it was just me. Now it's just my sister and I. "Us" is about relationship. The relationship I have with myself and with others. It was written over the course of several years where I was working very hard alone in my home. A time of mental and physical health issues ending in total healing and renewal after having my first child who is now 10 months old.
