Mat Ball's Amplified Guitar is out today. It's as monumental as it is approachable and memorable. The fledgling label behind this release, The Garrote, is proving itself to be an operation that approaches everything with utmost care and it's just that which can be said about this short album trailer / documentary which they have produced and are sharing today. In it, you can glimpse Mat's process and clips of a conversation that we had last month in Montreal. Do check it out. North Americans • Roped In

McDermott is releasing Roped In, a gorgeous, intimate, and often spare album that pulls back from the collaborative nature established on Going Steady for a collection of fragile drone pieces anchored by McDermott’s intricate but direct guitar playing and haunting pedal steel work from Portland, Oregon’s Barry Walker. Featuring contributions from William Tyler on guitar and Mary Lattimore on harp.

Be Still, Cody - The Mariner - 2014

Full of emotion and angst, yet tempered enough to still be indimo - great driving strumming to complement the yin/yan vocals.
Nicely done!

Puzzlecuts - Like a Human Being - 2015

Great sounding guitar driven DIY pop/rock from any town USA; he gets the slow/fast build.

This is is Puzzlecuts, a guitar pop/rock project out of Kalamazoo, MI. This is the project of a constantly-songwriting hermit with work from the past 3 years.Written and recorded solo, but will be playing full band shows in the region in the spring and summer months.

The goal was to craft the best pop melodies I could while still keeping it lyrical and wordy.

Top influences include Car Seat Headrest, The Hold Steady, Ben Folds, Say Anything, Elliott Smith, Titus Andronicus.

"...an excellent album, and not just for small town Midwesterners." - Space Rock Mountain, 1-6-2015
"Impassioned vocals and crashing drums making for a really good time." - Wake the Deaf, 1-6-2015

Diners - "Always Room" - 2014

Boy guitar pop with a twist of rawness for good measure. I really enjoy their innocence in their short   compact lullabies of angst and love; solid release out of Phoenix.

Jack Lee - Trophy Life - 2014

Another Osborne Again release from June 2014...

Haircut - Sweatshop - 2014

Have really been liking this Melbourne labels music... It is guitar based, slacker orientation, all good. Sometimes the summer months demand simplicity, Haircut got that! Clean strings, steady melodies and deadpan vocals all amount to some pretty nice music in my ears.

Mutt Singles #04 brings duplodeck making a statement of their affection for 90's guitar bands. Built on soothing riffs, dreamy voices and a lot of feedback, "Brisa" is a wall of noise that creates a sunset atmosphere.
