The Legend of Billy The Whale • 2022

‘The Wailing’ is accompanied by a Manga style video, “The Legend of Billy The Whale” (The Wailing/Whaling – who doesn’t love a play on words), which depicts the desperation of a broken, Captain
Ahab type figure, vengefully taking on the beast he holds responsible for the death of his loved ones.

“A gorgeous, genre-bending, cinematic sounding instrumental that mixes Celtic folk and Beatles psychedelia” - Four Bombs - Louder than War

“A song that will transport you away from whatever situation you are in, to a void”- Charlie Ashcroft, Amazing Radio

sunn O))) • Metta, Benevolence BBC 6Music • 2019

Artwork by Samantha Keely Smith https://samanthakeelysmith.com

In late October 2019, following a successful UK tour ending in a sold-out concert at the mythical Roundhouse in London, SUNN O))) entered studio 4 of the BBC Maida Vale. On invitation to record a live session for Mary Anne Hobbs to be broadcast on Samhain via her excellent radio show on BBC6. To enter the legendary John Peel studios was to enter a temple of music and experimentation, liberty in ideas and sound. The band was nearing the end of a long touring year around the Life Metal and Pyroclast albums. SUNN O))) had developed the compositions extensively, embracing the formative concepts of the Life Metal album conceptually and emotionally, but actualised and evolved into vast, open and bright hypersaturated arrangements. Particularly the pieces the band chose to perform on this recording: Troubled Air and Pyroclasts. The former enriched into a total aspect of the band's ethos and form in many ways, and Pyroclasts had evolved to become all-inclusive radiation of O))). The radiation embraces collaboration and freedom of interpretation by each player, within a structural format of the massive monuments of sound and distortion which define SUNN O))). Anna Von Hausswolf and her band had accompanied SUNN O))) on the UK leg, and Anna joined SUNN O))) in the studio on synths and with her tremendous voice on the Pyroclasts pieces.

Unwed Sailor • "Lilith" 2021

"...has an elegiac Joy Division/New Order procession to it...Truth or Consequences is poignant and poised, intimate but ambitious in its pursuit of connection."- Under The Radar

"...still finds the band making compelling instrumental rock, but this time they sound like they're pulling from the jangle pop of The Smiths and the breezier moments of The Cure"- Brooklynvegan

The instrumental post rock ambience of Unwed Sailor has been guided by the vision of Johnathon Ford (Pedro the Lion/Roadside Monument). Since starting the band in Seattle in 1998, Ford has combined elements of post rock, new age, new wave, ambient, shoegaze & film music to create the unique sound and vision of Unwed Sailor.

Mt. Mountain • Peregrination • 2021

The Mt. Mountain sound is born out of long improvised jams so, naturally, much of the incoming album was recorded in a live setting in order to capture the band at their most freewheeling. ‘Peregrination’, out today, articulates their creative approach perfectly (the title itself meaning a long, meandering journey.) The result is a slow-building ensemble of shuffling percussion and Krautrock rhythms, masterfully interwoven with cascading reverb-soaked guitars and lulling flutes that lure the song into acid-folk territory.

North Americans • Roped In

McDermott is releasing Roped In, a gorgeous, intimate, and often spare album that pulls back from the collaborative nature established on Going Steady for a collection of fragile drone pieces anchored by McDermott’s intricate but direct guitar playing and haunting pedal steel work from Portland, Oregon’s Barry Walker. Featuring contributions from William Tyler on guitar and Mary Lattimore on harp.

Julia Kent & Jean D.L. - The Great Lake Swallows - 2018

The album is an aching, ambient wonderland that ensues beauty at every turn. It was built as a whole and, indeed, should be consumed as a whole. The repetition is hypnotising, a lulling sense of calm entwined in hints of unease that flows seamlessly in and out of sleepy melodies and broken drones. Unfolding over a brief twenty-six minutes, The Great Lake Swallows cannot out-stay its welcome. Everything contained within feels necessary, each movement informing the next, a conversation between two outstanding musicians.

Alison Cotton - All Is Quiet At The Ancient Theatre - 2018

A solo project in the truest sense, viola, recorder, percussion and mesmerising voice are the instruments in Alison’s orchestra as she takes the stage at the Ancient Theatre. Rich sound breaks the stillness. Drone dreams seep through sepia photographs. Nothing here now but the improvised recordings, captured on two sides of cassette tape.

Killer Bee - Otaku - 2016

I named the album 'Otaku' to poke fun at myself and my love for anime/Japan. It also falls in line with Lofi Hip Hop's obsession with the anime aesthetic. I always joke with my friends that I'm a step away from getting a body pillow. I also wanted to explore the stigma behind it and question its definition. I don't think people should judge each other so harshly.

aoi - 1 (EP) - 2016

A voyage through lands where the organic and synthetic evolved in symbiosis, when the past and future coexist simultaneously. There one can hear piano and guitars from the 70s being led by digital synths, the chaotic sounds of electricity flowing through the dynamic tension of a jazz chord progressions, tribal beats played on a drum machine, the triomphant march of cyborgs preceding a moment where one wakes up after being adrift in an unknown sea. Amongst other sonic oddities.

Project Múkk - A Sigur Rós tribute - 2015

About a year ago, we formed this tribute project by Israeli musicians to honor the Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós, and their 20-year legacy of inspiring music. This endeavor, which later received the name "Project Múkk", is also a tool for the Israeli fan community to leverage the idea of a first Sigur Rós concert in Israel. To this end, we asked indie Israeli artists, inspired by the band in their musical career, to join us in this exciting project. All songs in this album are sung in the same language as the source (Icelandic / Hopelandic or just instrumental). All staff behind this project, artists, producers and designers alike, were fueled solely with the passion for music and a feeling of gratitude to Sigur Rós.
