“Mrs Calamari” also comes with a gorgeous video, which is the directorial debut of Dan “Danalogue” Leavers (member of UK electro/jazz monoliths The Comet Is Coming), shot on 8mm film. Danalogue says: “The film explores the archetypal hero's journey, the symbolism of circles (transformation/death/life cycles). Mrs Calamari is represented as a squid goddess, a teaching of the 'other’. It is essentially a story about growth and being guided by love. I felt strongly about the magical, organic sound of the music, recorded live and to analogue tape. This gave me inspiration to film on Super8, an antiquated format that holds within a mystery and timelessness.”

Mike Block • "Sea of Tranquility" • 2021
Discussing “Sea of Tranquility” Block stated, "Contemplating the feeling of approaching and then exploring the moon for the very first time, this track is named after the site where Apollo 11 landed on July 20, 1969. This track was recorded at a fully improvised live performance from a warehouse in Brooklyn, presented for just one listener. The singular audience's influence on the emerging music felt significant in the moment, despite being hard to quantify. My desire as performer was to improvise freely, with only a few seconds of premeditation as the audience member entered the room, so that each of us could discover the music for the first time, together." The solo improvised performance was paired with footage from the groundbreaking 1902 film, 'La Voyage Dans la Luna', by George Méliés

Mt. Mountain • Peregrination • 2021

The Mt. Mountain sound is born out of long improvised jams so, naturally, much of the incoming album was recorded in a live setting in order to capture the band at their most freewheeling. ‘Peregrination’, out today, articulates their creative approach perfectly (the title itself meaning a long, meandering journey.) The result is a slow-building ensemble of shuffling percussion and Krautrock rhythms, masterfully interwoven with cascading reverb-soaked guitars and lulling flutes that lure the song into acid-folk territory.

Mildred Maude - CPA III - 2018
“CPA III” is the debut single from Cornish improv noise trio Mildred Maude. The band formed after bassist Lee Wade was booed offstage at a John Peel Day gig, almost died from cancer, and spent remission finding new musicians in shipping containers. The result is a band exploring music together ‘in the moment’, with one never-ending, continually evolving song (CPA). CPA III is a captured moment of that song.
In just a handful of gigs, Mildred Maude have played shows with Bonnacons of Doom, Lorelle Meets the Obsolete, Gwenno, and supported The Fall at one of Mark E. Smith’s last gigs. The band have also performed as ‘sound carriers’ for Damo Suzuki (Can).
