KEEL HER - Demos 2014

"If you want an object for your nerd crushes then Keel Her will at least ensure that you’re listening to the right music as you fail to connect." :(

Fiery Crash - In Clover - 2015

indie rock / contemporary folk / dream pop

“My mother once gave me this advice: ‘If you ever start to feel like you’re defeated, or your fears have become irrational, don’t wallow in your anxiety. Stop thinking about yourself, and go do something for someone else.’ I don’t believe music is a savior. Rather, it is a gift, to show that, at some point, someone else has been where you are. The opposite of happiness is not suffering, it’s hopelessness. I have placed my hope in Jesus Christ, and I believe that enough to share it openly. However, Jesus didn’t die for music’s sake; He died for you and me. My music isn’t 100% Christian-radio friendly because I believe I’m called to help others through music, and it wouldn’t make any sense to limit my audience to one kind of person.”

Red Trees - Give Love - 2015

Stunning harmonies... Excellent release!

A couple of years ago my world had closed in, demons were everywhere and my mind had become a black and scary place. The song in my heart had stopped singing and music felt like some kind of far off frivolity. I was teetering on the brink of collapse when I was thrown a lifeline. Chris wanted to record our album with friends in Nottingham.

What followed was an experience that poured into me like a healing balm. We sang and laughed and I was struck by the quality of the love that Chris and I share between us, in the way our voices weave into harmony and in the sweetness of our friendship. For the first time I let that love fully fill my heart. It felt pure and innocent. When I returned home I knew that everything had to change, and it did.

So you see this album of ours ‘Give Love’ is not just a bunch of songs it is some kind of alchemy. It is the best moments of my life and the reason that I can breathe again. I dearly hope that you will enjoy listening to it and hopefully feel some of the magic that was spun making it.

Low Low Low La La La Love Love Love - Last - 2015

"There's an overwhelming sense of guilt in lavishing praise on Last because it's too little too late...a band that could have been our new Sparklehorse if we'd bothered to listen - 8/10." - The 405

"This is the band at their most unafraid. It’s a record that will resonate as profoundly personal, packed full of inner-declarations about missing out on your chances, messing up your relationships and coming to terms with who you are. Press play and head out on a long walk – this one deserves your undivided attention." - GoldFlakePaint

"This is a funeral album that feels like a real celebration. 'Last' is an absolute triumph - 9/10. - Crackle Feedback

"Couldn't sound any more sincere or true to its mission statement if it tried. It's eccentric, frustrating and above all – honest...LLL have withstood the trials that come with being an outsider act. They may not set the radio waves ablaze but they sure as hell will light up your heart." - The Digital Fix

"Full of heart, 'Last' is a perfect balance of rough lo-fi textures and luscious blends of soft and loud. This powerful duo have something to be proud of with this final treasure of an album." - Independent Music News

"A lo fi nugget amongst the ruff its gloriously ragged melodies and fuzz laden landscapes which bring to mind the likes of Daniel Johnston, Sparklehorse and Grandaddy are a delight to behold." - God Is In The TV

"A swansong to end all swansongs" - The Album Wall

"It sounds like a classic single from another era, like what I imagine watching Top of the Pops was like in the early ’70s, on a tiny tube TV, while trying to explain what was happening onscreen to Grandma." - Don't Need No Melody

"Rather than mourn the loss of a friend we never quite got to know as well as we should have, we should celebrate that we were able to meet them in the first place." - Dani Charlton (Amazing Radio - 'Record of the Week')

""A truly spectacular record." - Impropaganda

"Last presents significant, curious charms; it's the kind of record that surprises with noisy unpredictability, quiet intimacy and unflinching sincerity." - Clicky Clicky Music Blog

Water Music - Ships - 2015

Excellent Release.

Travis Button I've said about everything there is to say about Water Music in past comments, beautifully written and composed in a way that makes it is impossible for me to ignore the sincerity in this music. It's heartfelt and thought provoking on a level that many singer/songwriters will never reach.

DIET CIG - Over Easy - 2015

Diet Cig is a pop rock band from New Paltz, NY, fronted by Alex Luciano with Noah Bowman of Earl Boykins (Forged Artifacts) on drums. The five charming songs on the debut Over Easy EP, written by Alex in the comforts of her bedroom, capture the innocence of adolescence and infatuation.

Jake Xerxes Fussell - 2015

"Jake isn’t just a rare bird, he’s the professor you always wished you had, the friend you never get tired of epic hangs with, the human jukebox, the guitar player and singer who makes any band that he’s in better. He’s a southern scholar and gentleman in the tradition of Jim Dickinson, George Mitchell, and Les Blank. He’s a Dave Van Ronk for SEC country."

- William Tyler

"How wonderful that a record company has finally recorded an album by Jake Fussell. He is one helluva bluesman: my favorite of his generation, in fact; and, in my opinion, the best young traditional blues artist performing today."

- George Mitchell

"Jake X. Fussell is certainly one of America's finest young tradition-based songsters and guitar pickers. He had an ideal start: as a kid traveling the back roads of Georgia, Alabama, and even out to the Indian regions of Oklahoma with his folklorist dad, hearing and absorbing not only the vocal styles and guitar licks of such greats as Precious Bryant, but also developing a sure sense of the expressive core of Southern roots music. From Georgia's Sea Islands and Chattahoochie Valley to the Mississippi Delta to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Jake is still listening and learning, and coming up with music that takes us to a deep place in the American spirit."

- Art Rosenbaum

The Everywheres Performing Live at Kings University Wardroom - 2015

This is our first attempt at a live album. It was recorded unbeknownst to us by Jon Irvine on November 24th, 2014 at the Kings University Wardroom. It was a Monday night and we shared the stage with Halifax greats Walrus. Some of the songs on this cassette are old and some new and unreleased. It was a fun night and we are now glad to share it with you.

Plastic Bubble - Big Day Parade by Jigsaw Records - 2015

More a collective than a traditional band, Plastic Bubble present to us the follow-up to their delightful debut album (also on Jigsaw), and they've gone and topped themselves! "Big Day Parade" is better in just about every way, from its sound quality to the songwriting to the arrangements, which are even more adventurous than before! Not even 40 minutes long, the album is chock full of short and catchy songs and songlets that bring to mind the heyday of Elephant 6 (also a collective) from bands like Olivia Tremor Control, Chocolate USA and the Marbles; hailing from Kentucky, it's likely they would've been a welcome addition to that family back in the '90s. Come immerse yourself in this fun little record and get lost in their slightly psychedelic indiepop!

Unlikely Friends - Solid Gold Cowboys by Jigsaw Records - 2015

Unlikely Friends is somewhat a misnomer, as it is a group of actual friends from the Seattle indiepop scene. Dave Krain from Boat and Charles Bert from Math & Physics Club decided that they had too many song ideas laying around and wanted an outlet for them outside of their primary bands. I was recruited on drums, and Unlikely Friends was born! "Off the cuff" is a term thrown around a lot when talking about the band, as we tend to do things quickly and simply. Case in point: this record was written and recorded within a few months of forming - and before the band had even played live! This album is all about fun and full of instant hits; if you're looking for a musical point of reference, Boat isn't too far off (though definitely not MAPC!), but Guided By Voices might be a little more apt. In the time it took me to write this paragraph, another song has probably been written...

Small Wonder - Wendy - 2014

So beautiful. Recommended!

"It makes me want to sob. It makes me want to hug everyone I’ve ever loved and apologise to all of those that I’ve let down. It makes me want to crawl in to the one I love now and hold her for longer than I ever have before. I feel connected to it. I feel like I grew up with it; like it knows all of my secrets and fears and hidden memories. I feel like it was made only for me. I feel like maybe it was made by me." - Gold Flake Paint
