Agora Sci-Fi • sloppy • 2025

Crafted for a bright, dreamy day,  "sloppy" offers a relatable narrative for those stuck in a rut. Untangling the desire to escape from the social, economical, and psychological restraints of contemporary life, "sloppy" flirts with dynamics by gradually getting louder towards the end of the track, as Agora Sci-Fi highlights the injustice of the metaphorical shackles we are chained to.

The Secret Beach • Hat's Way of Walking • 2024

The Secret Beach is an ever-shifting group of musicians and co-conspirators orbiting around the songs and voice of esteemed songwriter Micah Erenberg. The Secret Beach is the collaborative musical project fronted by songwriter/producer Micah Erenberg. Micah has written, produced and engineered for artists such as Kacy & Clayton, Lee Ranaldo & Zoon, Boy Golden, The Waverley Pickers, Fontine and Marlon Williams. He has worked with producer/engineers such as Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Dr. Dog), Rob Fraboni (Bob Dylan, The Band, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys) and Sam Plecker (Father John Misty, Local Natives).

"His plainly stated lyrics are refreshing, and though the wide-ranging genre touchpoints are evident the production never threatens to distract from the songs, only ever tastefully adding to the story."
The Manitoban

"There's an alluring frailty - enhanced by his earnest and greatly melodic voice - in how Micah portrays how he thought life should be when compared to how he sees it currently... There may not be a better songwriter in Manitoba. Matlock's Lou Reed and Neil Young and Daniel Johnston all rolled into one."

best of 2023 • Lower Plenty • The Great Pretender

In the corner of my mind  there's a little town
Like a ghost it follows me around
I go away, I lay awake
I go so far away I see the face.
Stop thinkin' it was all so easy
Stop drinkin', well that's not so easy
Layin' in bed you talk about behavioural theory
I go to sleep underneath you janglin' jailer's keys

The songwriting on No Poets is steeped with the space intertwining acoustic guitars allow. By relying on these thin melodies to hold together the compositions, the potential for No Poets to run off the rails is real but Lower Plenty appear at their most concrete. Central to this cohesiveness is Sarah Heyward and Daniel Twomeys’ percussive dialogue which expands here. These sturdy rhythms float amongst Heyward’s uneasy sonic hazes. Get ready to spend aimless afternoons listening to this record.

Joe Brown - Post-Youth Depression - 2017

Joe comments "Post-Youth Depression is a retrospective euphoria of the days you can only appreciate when they're gone. It's about friends, living in a shit town and the acceptance of whatevers to come."

Music for Dead Birds - Nail & Tooth EP - 2017

Now in their 10th year of existence, Music for Dead Birds continue to add to their ever increasing back catalogue of lo-fi folk rock.

The first release since 2015’s ‘Your Brand New Life’, Music for Dead Birds have been quiet until the release of this EP, having only played two live shows in the last two years, opening for Girl Band and Overhead, the Albatross in their native Mayo.

Produced by the band in their rehearsal studio in Dublin, the EP deals with themes of spirituality, complicated romantic relationships, and male sacrifice.
