Now the Reid brothers release a new song that was captured during the album sessions in the shape of ‘Pop Seeds’.

DTCV - Confusion Moderne - 2016

In 2015, while listening to Clifton Chenier’s French Zydeco and the Nouvelle-Vague-inspired Brian Jonestown Massacre album Musique de film imaginé, Lola felt an urge to write songs in her native tongue and the resulting album Confusion Moderne.

Pretty Lightning - A Magic Lane Of Light And Rain - 2015

"These two pals from a small town in Germany have hit on an honestly impressive variation of Delta blues. When they summon a spooky drone, it’s been likened to the Amon Duul II hippy shake, but I hear something closer to Junior Kimbrough in its composure and hypnosis. They’ll hang on a single bobbling lick for a long time, and when it changes up, it’s both traditional and unexpected."

Nice Legs - Lullaby Land - 2015

Our eighth cassette release is a powerful EP by Nice Legs coming out of Seoul, Korea. You expect they would be Korean, but they are not. And definitely they are not boring. Read here: start-track.com/filip-zemcik-presenting-lew-and-henry-of-nice-legs/ After the interview we talked a little bit about releasing their latest EP and we made it through. I hope you will enjoy the cassettes as much as I will. I am so happy to have them in our Z Tapes family.

The Tailbreakers - 2015

Still riding the sonic wave of the electric 60's, the 4-piece band formed in 2014 in Toronto, Canada, delivers its audience the pioneering sounds of underground dance-to rock and roll, garage-beat and psychedelia.

The Tailbreakers' self-titled album recalls the vintage days of analog, live-off-the-floor recording techniques and reintroduces the listener to familiar tape hiss, slap-back echoes and reel to reel's warm, all-natural compression.

Pre-orders of a limited run of 100 Cassette tapes are available as of today at www.ongakubakarecords.bandcamp.com

The Stammer - Low - 2014

"ringing guitar chords and a dead-pan vocal melody familiar to anyone who grew up on New Order." - Imperial Matters

"a subdued anthem (oxymoron much?) you can queue up if you’re ready for a low key weekend of relaxation." - Guilty Feet

"mesmeric new single 'Low'; built upon a laid back bassline, it features a quite absorbing guitar riff." - Route For the Underdog

Tuff Love - Dross EP - 2015

Tuff Love's sophomore release, Dross EP, captures the essence of the band’s blistering live shows, as honeyed harmonies laze behind fuzz-drenched guitars, sleek bass lines and bruising drumming. ‘Slammer’ orbits a tense riff in the verses and lets rip in the choruses as Julie politely proclaims “I’ve got rage”. ‘That’s Right’ is a soaring adrenaline shot themed around instructions on a box of pain killers. ‘Sebastian’ bristles with low-down dropped-tuning hooks. Written on the night bus to London, ‘Cum’ is a swaying, savage-tender musing on regret and compassion. Get set to fall in love with Tuff Love all over again.

The Everywheres Performing Live at Kings University Wardroom - 2015

This is our first attempt at a live album. It was recorded unbeknownst to us by Jon Irvine on November 24th, 2014 at the Kings University Wardroom. It was a Monday night and we shared the stage with Halifax greats Walrus. Some of the songs on this cassette are old and some new and unreleased. It was a fun night and we are now glad to share it with you.

Himalayan Bear - Moonlight and Rain: One - 2015

I've been wanting to post some recordings stemming from ideas that have been hanging around. not sure where it's going but I have two in the works. This is the first, a collection of some covers I've recorded in the past couple years as well as a couple alternate arrangements of tunes. Taughtened Strand is a song that'll be on the forthcoming Himalayan Bear LP No Golden Kingdom.
