PAN AMERICAN & KRAMER • "GROUNDWATER" • 2024

" This piece of Ambient-Cinema i've created for GROUNDWATER is based upon a dream I had, in which two ghost Titanics met on the sea. They drifted slowly towards me as I realized that I myself was the iceberg that would sink both ships, as the music of Gavin Bryars hums softly from beneath the waters. We steer our lives upon a dream within a dream."
- Kramer, 2024

loscil • The Sails p.1 • 2022

The Sails is a two-part collection of music written for dance projects over the last ~eight years. All of these compositions were commissioned specifically by the choreographers for their projects, many of which might not be performed again (and one that never did get staged). Most pieces have been edited and reworked for this collection for better sequencing and to breathe new life into the music. Part 2 will be released seperately within the coming months.

"there’s also something in his music that goes beyond representation into the ineffably sublime..."  ~ Marc Masters, Bandcamp Daily

"This Washington DC-based ambient guitar wizard successfully blends power ambient sonic backbone with ethereally stunning celestial textures to a triumphant effect, creating a thing of uplifting, subversive beauty, the core of his artistic credo." ~  A Closer Listen

Cosmo Sheldrake • Wake Up Calls • 2020

Wake Up Calls’ was created over a nine year period, using recordings of bird song featured on the red and amber lists of endangered British birds (with the exception of a Robin and a Blackbird, which aren’t endangered – yet).

The album starts at night with a Nightjar and a Nightingale. The music progresses, track by track, through dawn and day time, round to the evening chorus and back to night with another Nightingale and an Owl. Cuckoo Song, is composed by Benjamin Britten and features the sound of a Cuckoo singing above Britten’s grave in Aldeburgh Cemetery, recorded by the soundscape ecologist Bernie Krause.

The Winterhouse • An Unknown Season • 2020

An unknown season, a long way from here.
On a curious path,
When the leaves turn ...
to impalpable forms.

More soundscapes and intimate journeys.

Alexandra Lost • Fleeting Dance • 2020

To illustrate the song’s emotional landscape, we decided to dig into century-old public domain silent film footage. As we consider our music to be a sort of recycling of 20th-century popular culture, this approach seemed appropriate. We liked the idea of creating a new story from an old one, and of amplifying a film's existing emotional palette by juxtaposing handpicked images with contemporary sounds.

Goodparley • This sofa is all we have • 2020

This sofa is all we have is a relaxing but engaging soundscape, improvised live, layer by layer. Gradual modulations in effects see the piece undulate over a meditative 18 minutes. These are sounds for fans of ambient drone stalwarts Stars of the Lid, experimental leftfieldists Boards of Canada and anybody looking to add sounds to the passing moments of the day.

Glows • Afterthought • 2019

The video for GLOWS ‘Afterthought’ is an articulation of the ideas and references that amalgamate in the upcoming EP JLHOOKERLOVEPLEASUREFOREVER; spanning folklore, ontology, overstimulation and psycho-geography. The act of travelling is key to Glows creative process and the video for ‘Afterthought’ documents several psycho-geographic walks undertook by Glows and creative partners as a method for inspiration. An interest in ontology and folklore tales is articulated through a narrative structure that skips across past, present and future encounters from the walks.

Infinite Tape Loops: The Edge by Music For Sleep • 2019

Visual Complexity "The Edge" is a record that brings me memories of nature, and my childhood. It's very indescribable through words, but the music reflects the feelings of wandering a open grass field, encountering a strange new world. Very peaceful and relaxing soundscapes along with the perfect cover tells me this is easily a new favorite Music For Sleep release. It's just incredible.

Happy Sadness - From The Window - 2017

From The Window, by Happy Sadness, is a very succinct and lo-fi sounding concept album, expressing a winters day in the life of an alcoholic who suffers ill mental health. It’s quite an unconventional album, mostly acoustic and DIY orchestral/soundscape sounding, but it’s honest and true, and I hope you enjoy listening to it.
My influences include The Beta Band, The Stone Roses, and Lone Pigeon.

Clara Engel - Your Halo is a Swarm of Bees - 2017

Six lovely guitar improvisations by Clara Engel on limited CD-R, for fans of Loren Connors, Harold Budd & Neil Young's instrumental works.

"Your halo is a swarm of bees" features me improvising on electric guitar one afternoon and hitting "record" on a field recording device. These lo-fi unpremeditated sounds chronicle my mind's movement as I wade through the demoralizing dregs of 2016.

My guinea pigs were napping peacefully in the next room the whole time I was playing, so this recording is dedicated to them."
