TWIN XL • Slow Heart • 2022

The hypnotic hybrid of Los Angeles-based alt-pop band Twin XL had its breakout in 2019 with the release of their critically acclaimed debut EP How To Talk To Strangers featuring the catchy hit single "Good," which peaked at #19 at alternative radio and spent 5 weeks on Billboard's Top Alternative Songs Chart peaking at #24. Described by NYLON as "very, very good," and by MTV News as "a Certified Bop™," the single peaked at #1 on Spotify's top alternative music playlist The New Alt and was featured on Out Now. Along the way, the band has toured alongside the likes of The Fitz and the Tantrums, lovelytheband, The Maine, The Mowgli's, Jukebox The Ghost, and IDon't Know How But They Found Me and scored high-profile syncs on FOX's The Resident, Hulu's Light As A Feather, and MTV's Ex On The Beach, to name a few.

CIEL • Days • 2020

“Shoegaze textures with some gorgeous pop flourishes, CIEL have already attracted word-of-mouth hype” - Clash

Delivering moody alt-pop with magnetism, merging shoegaze with post-punk, noir rock dream pop, the trio’s second release builds on the early promise shown in lead single ‘The Shore’, conjuring up innovative and nostalgic ideas and drawing comparisons to Alvvays, Cate Le Bon and Our Girl with their intrinsic mystique.

mock orange - Put The Kid On The Sleepy Horse - 2016

Having been a band for over two decades, Evansville, IN’s Mock Orange have seen and done quite a bit throughout the years. Despite releasing a handful of ever-evolving albums and EPs, touring the world over, and slowly amassing a devoted fanbase, there was bound to be a hiccup at some point. It arrived upon the culmination of the band’s most recent recording sessions when a hard drive failure meant all of their recordings were in jeopardy. Fast forward a couple years — and several hard drive specialists later — and the recordings were finally recovered safely.

Let's Say We Did - Such A Shame EP - 2014

Husbands - GOAT // SOME SURF - 2015

We've written a number of NBA/OKC related songs, including a song about when Serge went down in the Western Conference Finals. Neither of these songs are about the NBA. However, the GOAT diction makes it into one of Danny's songs here. I'm not sure who the GOAT is in this song, though. "Some Surf" was one of the five songs we recorded - at least in part - last November in Nashville, and I'm really happy we shaped it up into publishable form.

Candids - Love EP - 2015

Top 20 Songs of 2014: Happyness - Baby, Jesus

Happiness is a great feeling; Happyness is a great band. The South London trio specializes in lush-yet-breezy indie rock that conjures all sorts of wistful feelings then takes the piss out of them with wry puns and punchlines. Think of it as Sparklehorse’s mournful dream-pop pocket symphonies infused with Pavement’s winking ironic sensibility, or Yo La Tengo if their public sense of humor seeped into their records more often. It’s gorgeous, gregarious stuff, music that immediately ingratiates itself but continues to reveal new layers of beauty with time.

It opens with ‘Baby, Jesus (Jelly Boy)’, which contains lyrics as weird as the title suggests. It’s a beautifully simple and almost idyllic sounding track, letting the guitar drip in like melting icicles. The vocals are whispered over the top, with the line “I’m the motherfucking birthday boy, don’t steal my thunder baby Jesus” standing out amongst the quiet backing.

Goodnight, Sunrise - Bridgeburner - 2014

Goodnight, Sunrise is a 7.2 on the Richter scale. Goodnight, Sunrise is the feeling of orbiting the sun on the back of a unicorn. Goodnight, Sunrise is a 4-piece Toronto-based rock and roll hurricane pulling funk, metal, soul, pop and prog into its vortex. Goodnight, Sunrise is your birthday party.
