“My Own Place” is driven by a strong country-influenced bassline, twangy guitar leads and mesmerizing acoustic guitar strumming. As it opens, the guitar lead is pure honky-tonk, the perfect lead-in to what turns into a catchy little psych-folk number. The vocal harmonies recall pop experts like The Kinks or The Beatles – in fact the verse has strong parallels to latter band’s Revolver standout “I’m Only Sleeping.”
