The Story of The Silver Jews
The Silver Jews have been a favourite of mine since the beginning. The earlier albums were characterized by a raw, poetic melding, followed in the later years with a more seasoned delivery...
Poet and song writer David Berman is a rebel, a mess and a mensch. Since 1993, as a frontman for the Silver Jews, he has chronicled disaffection and loss with quirky, intelligent humour and sharp, often ambiguous lyrics...
These people like Townes Van Zandt and Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen and Willie Nelson, they were all told that they couldn't sing their own songs. These are the people who were writing the interesting songs, who had something to say, and they knew that they were the only ones who could say it right ... When I listen to music, I want to hear a person and a person that I trust. I don't want to hear the sound of a culture ...

loafeye remix: everybody knows
This song was recorded a couple of summers ago, but never mixed or released; it will be included on loafeye's new record. I took a simple folk ditty I wrote and tried to deconstruct it a bit to give a bit more texture and life.

The Story of The Violent Femmes
The Grandfathers of Folk-Punk. Rock's dadaist improvisors. Calcified fossils of teen angst. American roots minimalists. The sonic personification of anxiety. Blues cubists. Spokesmen for misfits. These are just a few of the phrases that come to mind upon thinking of the Femmes... The Femmes are an old time singing group in the sixties mold. All three of them sing their hearts out for almost the entire show. Gano’s distinctive whine has influenced everyone from Billy Corgan to Bob Dylan...The Femmes first album has sold millions of copies. Their newest album has sold hundreds of copies... Rolling Stone magazine said Gano's voice "can clear a room faster than a methane explosion... Gordon and Brian played their first show together at Gordon's National Honor Society Program. Gordon told them he would play an innocuous song, but instead the duo performed "Gimme the Car." When a riot erupted Gordon was expelled from the honor society...
a few fun facts about The Violent Femmes; my favourite songs are on this exclusive mix! Enjoy...

loafeye Remix Song: Antidote [2012]
I have been working on a few new/old songs, mixing, adding, subtracting, placing, cutting, etc... A few late nights have produced this result. I like the lyrics on this song, good imagery that accompanies a rather post-pop musicality. Have a listen; comments are welcomed :-)
