Four albums deep, Toronto's Kiwi Jr. arrive at Blowin' Up by doing something quietly radical: playing it live, together, in a room. Jeremy Gaudet traded the tight compression and Pro Tools tinkering of past records for the sound of four people breathing the same air—guitar solos left unswapped, drums left unmoved. The result opens up where earlier Kiwi Jr. records clenched, trading whimsical, pop-culture-soaked lyricism for something more spacious and unguarded. Gaudet talks candidly about writing from title first, riff last, and the Neil Young listening sessions that shaped the room-sound instinct. Out August 7th, it's the sound of a band trusting the take.

Anyone Awake • Late Night Driver • 2024

Hailing from Rigby, Idaho, Anyone Awake is an alternative indie band comprised of Cassius Coleman (17), Rylan Sager (22), Sam Butterfield (17) and Seth Chamberlain (22). Since their inception in late 2022, the band has released a series of singles and a couple EPs. Today, Anyone Awake is sharing their debut full length LP, Bushel And A Peck.

Bushel And A Peck is a nine track project that outlines the story of co-founder Cassius (Cash) Coleman’s grandparents, from their relationship's start to end regarding the passing of his grandfather in February 2024. "Each song reflects not only their love story but also pieces of my own life and personal experiences," Cash says. He began writing the songs when he was 13, and since then has been developing his ability to compose chord progressions and vocal melodies.

rustbelt • "you got nowhere to go but you're going there tonight” • 2023

Ambition exists at the edge of a hopeful cliff, acknowledging the possibility of failure without falling all the way into the abyss. Rustbelt’s John Chiaverina knows about this dance of endurance, and his new EP, You Got Nowhere To Go But You’re Going There Tonight, out January 19 from Dangerbird Records, encompasses the variety of perspectives he’s experienced along the way.

“All your hopes and all your dreams / they never really die,” Chiaverina sings on the title track. He’s been working on the song for over 10 years, which means it’s been sitting on his hard drive as he continued to write and perform as Juiceboxxx, but this song kept pulling him back in somehow. “With Rustbelt, I’m trying to give myself room to move outside of my narrative a tiny bit,” he says. “These songs are like alternate timelines for myself.”
