FUR - Angel Eyes - 2019

around 4 and a half million YouTube hits later, the band have landed support slots to the likes of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Matt Maltese and more; their listenership is fast-spreading with praise - and even fan art - coming in from all over the world. "I think the one thing we really appreciate is people telling us we have a fanbase in places we never expected”, noted Murray on this. “Indonesia has become a big thing, and when people in Peru say there are whole groups of people out there that love us, that's amazing.”

“Handsome Jack sounds like the band that just moved in next door from 1971. The retro-minded trio returns with ‘City Girls,’ a countrified bit of rock 'n' roll that could have crawled from FM radio in its dawning moments, slithered right out of your speakers and into your record collection. With zero pretention and 100 percent dedication Handsome Jack has built a loyal following with its no frills live shows and songs that speak to the heart of everyone.” – Jedd Beaudoin - POPMATTERS

evols - Shelter - 2015
Evols are not guitars or "fuzzwahs" or "echo's", not even noise!
They are a psychotropic cavalry able to release in a gray brain enough serotonin to make a horse bark!

The Heavy Minds - Treasure Coast - 2015
The Heavy Minds, based in Upper Austria, are a Psychedelic-70's-Blues-Trio playing a mixture of heavy, fuzzy riffs, dreamy melodies and spacey solos, which is heavily influenced by bands of the late 60's, early 70's.
Grégoire Guery Holy crap! This album is just so damn good from the very first note to the very last. Trippy blues sung and played with the right amount of soul, grit and talent. Awesome!
Gezzer Do you remember when you had to pay attention to music? I mean really pay attention? Listen with not only your ears, but your heart and your soul? When a song could pull you in and spit you out a quivering shivering puddle on the floor (with or without smokables)?
Well I remember, and I think The Heavy Minds remember too. If you're looking for background music to fill the soundtrack to your life, move on. If you yearn for music that takes you on a trip, sit and listen awhile. Favorite track: Seven remains.

Chook Race - About Time - 2015
Gavin Hellyer When you sit down to listen to this 30 minute record just make sure you have an hour to spare because there's no way you'll only be able to listen to it once. More great music from Melbourne, this is just fantasic with bits of The Velvets, Love, The Byrds and heaps of other great influences, plus their own very unique and original sound.

Houndmouth - Little Neon Limelight - 2015
Legend has it that when Rough Trade’s Geoff Travis first saw Indiana quartet Houndmouth at the SXSW festival, he offered them a deal on the spot. It’s easy to hear why: their songs are instantly euphoric. Exuberant opener Sedona sets the tone for this second album, matching the giddy, ethereal atmosphere of early Fleet Foxes with a killer Strokes riff and an invitation to “hop on in, in a stagecoach, baby, gonna take you for a spin”. Often and not unreasonably compared to the Band, they have a palette that stretches from rambunctious rock’n’roll to bruised country balladry. They’re blessed with two great singers in the Dylanesque Matt Meyers and the more classically country-styled Katie Toupin, and when the members’ four voices combine, they really sound like they are breaking loose from their moorings. At best – on the rollicking 15 Years or the shoutalong Say It – it’s classic Americana delivered with the raucous spirit and energy of the Faces or Slade. They may suddenly find their stagecoach getting rather full. G
Houndmouth are the kind of band you’ll fall in love with the first moment you hear them. They have tons of energy and that comes through on Little Neon Limelight. The first three tracks, “Sedona”, “Otis”, and “15 Years” is one of the strongest runs to open an album all year. The pace changes with the heartfelt “For No One” before cranking it back up with “Black Gold” and “Honey Slider”, my early favorite track on Little Neon Limelight. I also really dig “Say It”, a swingin’ and screamin’ rocker and the sweet closer, “Darlin'”. A definite thumbs up from me. the revue

Top 20 Songs: Foxygen - No Destruction
Bob Dylan's straight-on delivery of crooked, impressionistic lyrics, the warm weariness of the Velvet Underground's self-titled third album, and the lazy anthems of Pavement. In short: big-budget feeling, played with shoestring ambition. What makes it sound fresh isn't that it faithfully imitates the past, but that it somehow fails to-- a product of alluringly broken logic.
Listeners coast-to-coast will no doubt notice the jab "There's no need to be an asshole/ You're not in Brooklyn anymore", but the lyrical heart of the song comes later: "You think it's over, oh you think it's over / To be someone who smokes pot in the subway with me", a semi-desperate diss from an old friend who can't see how things really are in part because they can't let go of how they were. Awkward nostalgia is a good subject for a band whose music sounds like it traveled decades to get here and got roughed up every step of the way.
I'm sending you this photograph
Of me in my new car
But I hate to say I miss you
'Cause you don't need me anymore
You politely say, "I miss you"
But we know you don't mean that anymore
Like when the doctor thought he caught you
Then you weaseled through the door
Through the door of consciousness
San Francisco
Oh you think it's over
Oh you think it's over to need
Someone who smokes pot in the subway
Pot in the subway, to me
Oh, Destructo, you're so destructive
Oh, you're so destructive to me
No destruction in the waking hour
No destruction in the waking wind
No destruction in the waking hour
There's no corruption in the waking wind
I'm talking to my grandma who lost her arms in the war
The aliens and armory that bombed her cigar store
Now you think that I don't know but I know you to know quite well
That I caught you sipping milkshakes in the parlor of the hotel
There's no need to be an asshole, you're not in Brooklyn anymore
You may take what you are given but you leave it on the floor
And I know they're gonna try to take my big mouse
Take the panels off my greenhouse
Oh, but the door of consciousness isn't open anymore
Oh you think it's over, oh, you think it's over to me
Someone who smokes pot in the subway
Pot in the subway with me
Oh Destructo, you're so destructive
Oh, you're so destructive to me
No destruction in the waking hour
No destruction in the waking wind
There's no destruction in the waking hour
There's no corruption on the mountain hour
No destruction in the waking hour
No destruction in the waking wind
