Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell Live - 2017
Carrie & Lowell Live captures Sufjan at his most vulnerable and persuasive, and it features a proficient, multiple-instrumentalist crew of musicians, including Dawn Landes (vocals, guitar, guitalin, piano, synthesizer, vocoder, percussion), Casey Foubert (vocals, guitar, lap steel, bass, piano, ukulele, synthesizer), Steve Moore (vocals, synthesizer, bass synth, trombone, Casiotone, piano) and James McAlister (drums, percussion, electronics, synthesizer, piano). The live show ends with an expansive 12-minute improvisational jam that looks (and feels) like nothing less than a born-again experience.

misfit genius - there's something about this music - it is sadly intriguing - the video, well, the video speaks for itself...
Soft Fangs // Bellows Split - 2017
To put Soft Fangs and Bellows together is to create a perfectly balanced harmony: a constant flow of electricity and sadness, simplicity and layers; an idealistic split for the adventurous (and perhaps weary) mind. BH
Trementina - 810 - 2017
810 includes nine tracks that flood the musical landscape; ranging from songs like “Oh Child,” which capture the atmospheric pressure of Joshua Tree-era U2, or early CHVRCHES, to “Please, Let’s Go Away,” which sounds like it was recorded inside a cosmic cathedral, as opposed to a DIY studio from the Chilean countryside. It’s a track the band recorded after the sudden departure of their drummer, which inspired them to augment their sound with influences as broad as Brian Eno and Robin Guthrie. 810 includes several tracks that show the quartet reaching beyond the shoegaze galaxy, even back in time, like the opium-den tripping of “Out of the Lights” and the African textures on “A Place Up in the Sky.”
Hello Shark - Break Arms & H.S. - 2017
Hello Shark’s Linc Halloran writes heart-wrenching pop songs of young love & aimlessness, loaded with perfectly vivid turns of phrase that bloom & wilt all at once. The stories are uplifting for their familiarity, & hilarious for their humility. More than anything, though, they ache with thousands of small regrets. Disappointment & romance are everywhere, if you look hard enough.

Diet Cig - Swear I'm Good At This - 2017
‘Swear I’m Good At This’ is the first full-length from the band and accumulates their tenacity for crafting life-affirming, relatable tales with a gutsy heart at their core. Luciano has the ability to write lyrics that are both vulnerable and badass, perfecting a storm of emotive reflection that creates a vision of a sweaty, pumped-up room screaming these lines in unison. Diet Cig make it okay to be the hot mess that you are.
Snails - Starting with Mine EP - 2017
SNAILS generate moments of suburban guitar pop reverie for lonely people walking to the shops. Formed after a friend's request to soundtrack a budget slasher involving a homicidal nun, their sound bears the influence of mavericks such as Basil Kirchin, Syd Barrett and Nico.
I See Rivers - Dad Ram - 2017
“This is vocal harmonising at its exquisite expert best.” – Fresh On The Net Faves, BBC 6 Music blog
Hailing from the Northern, Southern and Western parts of Norway, the now Liverpool-based trio I SEE RIVERS creates an organic musical landscape they’ve dubbed ”Float Folk”. With memorable melodies and untraditional harmonies their soundscape can be associated with artists such as Fleet Foxes, Sufjan Stevens and Feist. After releasing their single “Loved Ones” and touring the rural parts of Norway, playing festivals such as Belladrum (Scotland), Green Man (Wales) and Malakoff (NO), the girls did their biggest tour to date supporting Newton Faulkner all around the UK and are now preparing for this summer’s festival season with great festivals to be released. The girls have also recorded and produced their debut EP being released April 2017 with the lead single ‘DA RUM’.
“Their music is delicate Folk Pop based around clever vocal arrangements, and outstanding vocals. They just look so natural performing together, and have a level of cohesion that is genuine, rare and pretty special too». - Nordic Music Review
“Perhaps the hottest prospect from Norway’s consistent excellent outpouring of specially tender bands, this now UK-based trio make the kind of indefinable Scandinavian magic that instantly catches the eyes and ears. Part-folk, part swooning pop songs.” – Green Man Festival 2016.

THE CHARLATANS - plastic machinery ft. johnny marr & anton newcombe - 2017
For this new album, the core quartet of vocalist Tim Burgess, bassist Martin Blunt, guitarist Mark Collins and keyboard player Tony Rogers, opened their doors to allow an enviable cast of friends to contribute to their latest work. Initially, this happened out of necessity: following the passing of founding drummer Jon Brookes in 2013. So the first call went to Pete Salisbury, the former Verve drummer. Anton Newcombe from Brian Jonestown Massacre was sent an early version of ‘Not Forgotten’ and had sent back some thoughts within fifteen minutes. The admiration for the bands’ new ideas continued, Johnny Marr dropped by for an hour but stayed for five and features on three songs including the leading single ‘Plastic Machinery’. Similarly, Stephen Morris, of New Order, who briefly helped out on ‘Modern Nature’, extended his role on this album to seven tracks of drumming and programming. Both Ian Rankin and Kurt Wagner offer spoken word contributions and Catastrophe writer/ actress, and old friend of Tim’s, Sharon Horgan sings backing vocals on Different Days. As the spirit of collaboration prospered, Burgess fast-tracked a longdiscussed team-up with Paul Weller, the expansive, album finale ‘Spinning Out’.
Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever - The French Press - 2017
Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever’s songs have always had all the page-turning qualities of a good yarn and 'The French Press' is no different. Somewhere between impressionists and fabulists, lyricists Fran Keaney, Tom Russo and Joe White often start with something rooted in real life – the melancholy of travel on "French Press," having a hopeless crush on "Julie’s Place" – before building them into clever, quick vignettes. The result is lines blurred between fiction and reality – vibrant stories which get closer at a particular truth than either could alone.

Angharad Drake - Ghost - 2017
Angharad Drake (ang-ha-rad) combines gentle folk melodies with insightful lyrics, reminiscent of artists like Laura Marling and Joni Mitchell. Her heartfelt vocal performances create an intimate and evocative atmosphere for the listener, allowing her stories to be completely absorbed…
Freeze The Atlantic - The People Are Revolting - 2017
Quite the best record Freeze the Atlantic have ever created, album 3 sees the former Reuben/ Hundred Reasons boys power through a bevy of hits. Favourites of YouTube sensation Colin Furze, and regulars on the rock and festival circuit delivering an ever dependable set that will blow your face off – this is one for the big, alt rock anthem purists. The people may be revolting, but Freeze the Atlantic are as wonderful as ever.

Monster Movie - Keep the Voices Distant - 2017
Keep The Voices Distant is Monster Movie's fifth album and their first record since 2010's Everyone Is a Ghost. It was recorded with Martin Nichols at White House Recording Studios in Weston-super-Mare and produced by Ryan Graveface. As with all Monster Movie releases it is a combination of Christian and Sean's song-writing, playing, arrangements, general grumpiness and chaotic, personal lives.
Rave On, A Madchester Celebration - 2017
This project is dedicated to a whole delicious scene that made us dance and enjoy life intensely.
Of course, that many other bands lack to be revered like the Inspiral Carpets, Paris Angels, Northside, to name a few ..... who knows in a next volume ....
I want to thank all the bands that are part of this project and the whole Madchester Scene.

Earwigging is just the next part of Songs For Walter’s ever-expanding world, and once again eyes and ears will be opened, pulling everyone along for the ride.
Hush Machine - Hush Machine - 2017
Hush Machine is the blissful, glassy guitar pop of Kansas-born Sam Boatright, a 21 year-old Lawrence native who has created music under this moniker for several years; however, he has only just recently started sharing his music with a grander listening audience... Musically, the sound is not unlike the first Strokes record - that is, catchy and gritty and poppy and memorable, but without a single ounce of pretense. A promising start for this young musician!

The Washboard Abs - Recurring Chasms - 2017
On Recurring Chasms, Olympia's The Washboard Abs take their intimate indie-pop to new heights. Incorporating angular rhythms and art rock sensibilities to these perfectly distilled songs, the album is a beautiful and complex journey through personal battles and trauma recovery.
Nana Grizol - Ursa Minor - 2017
http://www.orangetwin.com/ursa-minor.html
Ursa Minor, released in March of 2017, is the long-awaited follow up to Nana Grizol's second album, "Ruth," a potent mix of revved up melodic folk punk, laced with intricate horn arrangements and sleazy, ripping guitars. It alternates between contemplative, beautiful folk arrangements and blasting rock and roll, often within the same song.
