CHARITY EMPRESSA • A Riot Of Snowflakes • 2023

“With Charity Empressa we just have the drones on a cassette tape. We listen, try to figure out a key, and we go. Since there is no real inherent structure to the drones, we aren’t tied to anything traditional, just our own limitations. Hence, the process is a bit more esoteric, and happenstance.” For instance, on ‘Riot of Snowflakes,’ I asked Frank to play harmonica over the drone. It was fun to watch him almost pass out. Then it was, let’s try some banjo, then some bluegrass on the acoustic.

Various Artists • NPUC2020 Compilation LP • 2020

All proceeds from this release will be donated to refuge.org.uk, who support survivors of domestic abuse in the UK.

Fueled by weird lockdown nostalgia, a hankering for live music and a primal need to JUST DO SOMETHING, I sent out a bunch of emails more in hope than expectation of being able to put an online festival together. The response was astonishing - within a few days I had 80% of a line-up, and NPUC2020 kicked off just 2 weeks after those initial probings.

Broads & Milly Hirst • 'Happisburgh' • 2020

"Outstanding and enchanting with its positive vibe, original dynamic and clever use of sound textures... calls to mind Sylvian Esso, Plaid, Boards of Canada, Grouper and some other Kranky Records output with elements of Tycho, Bonobo and Telefon-Tel Aviv" – Big Takeover Magazine

"One of the strongest colors on their palette is when they get into electropop mode and bring to it a deeply felt sense of melancholy and a minimalist aesthetic that other producers would fear" – Paste Magazine

"An esoteric hybrid... droning ambience. Broads have delivered an arresting work of sound havens" – We Are Cult

The Winterhouse • An Unknown Season • 2020

An unknown season, a long way from here.
On a curious path,
When the leaves turn ...
to impalpable forms.

More soundscapes and intimate journeys.

Infinite Tape Loops: The Edge by Music For Sleep • 2019

Visual Complexity "The Edge" is a record that brings me memories of nature, and my childhood. It's very indescribable through words, but the music reflects the feelings of wandering a open grass field, encountering a strange new world. Very peaceful and relaxing soundscapes along with the perfect cover tells me this is easily a new favorite Music For Sleep release. It's just incredible.

wombat_army - circling - 2017

'Circling' is the 4th album by London based composer/producer Martin Webb under the name wombat_army. Recorded over the course of 2016, the music was originally composed to be performed live along with rare archive films at a secret film society. Combining live cello through FX and looping pedals with laptop and synths, the intention for the music was to create richly textured atmospheres underpinned by a strong sense of melody and structure that would act as a live score to the visuals, creating an immersive and cinematic experience.

Illuminations - 2017

a bittersweet dagger to your uplifted heart…

"Against the snowfall, a tall Being of Beauty. Whistling of death and the circling of faint music make this adored body rise, expand and quiver like a spectre; wounds of scarlet and black burst from superb flesh. The colours proper to life deepen, dance and detach themselves around this Vision in the making. Shudders rise and groan and the frenetic flavour of these effects fills with that mortal whistling and raucous music that the world, far behind, hurls at our mother of beauty – she recoils, she rears. Oh, our bones are clothed with a new amorous body! Oh, the ashen face; the escutcheon of horsehair, the crystal arms! The cannon I must assault through the melee of trees and the weightless air!"

- Arthur Rimbaud, Illuminations VI: Being Beauteous

Molly Drag / Anti-Freeze Split Cassette - 2015

Recorded over a spring period in 2015, the release of this split is a clashing of two similar yet distinct musical approaches to melody and story telling. It is best listened to from start to finish.

Open Casket (Hidden Meaning) was recorded at the humble former abode of Molly Drag.
Everything else was recorded and mixed at Satan's Cove in London, Ontario by Anti-Freeze.

Nathan Amundson - Western Songs - 2015

Western Songs marks the first time Nathan Amundson (Rivulets) is releasing music under his own name. This record is his first for Silentes, and features two side-long late night instrumental guitar jams evoking the vast, arid landscape surrounding his home state of Colorado.

Ô Paon - FLEUVE - 2015

Ambient drone from french Quebecer Geneviève Castrée out of the vastness of a winter landscape. Tragic and uplifting all in one. Excellent release.
For fans of Mogwai type music.
