Caténine - In Your Ruin - Single 2014

Caténine another one thanks to the great February Records, folks. Caténine is the Massachusetts-based recording project of Dylan Connor, who began his career with a self titled (and self-released) EP in December 2012. Live shows (where he expands the project into a quartet) and a split release with Funeral Advantage on Disposable America Records followed in September 2013. And with the mind-blowing (oh, these guitar lines!) single "In Your Ruin" surfacing now courtesy of February Records we can certify Connor is an artist to follow closely. Classy jangle pop meeting hazy dreampop, with slight touches of synths and icy 80's post-punk. A mixture of wonders.

COUGAR ISLAND - Much Too Loud - 2014

Meenk - Scamu Scau - 2014

Very cool female vocals with superb melodies... Nice release.
Described on BC as "sweevil skew gaze"

Cozy Catastrophes - Way Last June - 2014

Cozy Catastrophes is the solo recording project of Greg Adams. Using guitars, bass, Casios, Moog, glockenspiel and drum machines, and inspired by twee pop, Swedish pop, self-help books and Bobby Rydell’s sweaters, Cozy Catastrophes creates music for teen-age record hops, in-town driving, and lonely hours. The Bloomington, Indiana, resident released his debut album, An Instructive Amusement, in August 2013 on his own Beehive Rebellion Records. The homemade, bedroom-pop recordings of the debut album were clever and slightly cute. Any song called “I Wish This Sweater Were You” was already going to be a big hit among the two of us at February Records. The new Cozy Catastrophes EP, Way Last June, is a bit more electric, but the songwriting is still just as clever as the debut album.

Film - "Ping Pong with Angels" - 2014

Athenian outfit return with a new track, taken from the group's forthcoming album Eclipse: "Ping Pong with Angels" is a moody synth anthem, processed voices mingle with sublime harmonies like sunbeams in the blue of the Aegean Sea. FILM's cinematic sounds capes revolve around nihilistic urban settings and inspire celluloid fantasies.

Film enjoy a leading status amongst the Greek indie scene and have enviable live credits with support slots for behemoths such as The Cure, New Order and The Flaming Lips.

Greek three piece band, Film will release their highly anticipated fourth album Eclipse at the end of September, through Inner Ear Records.

Waterbodies - What the French Call "Les Incompétents" - 2014

Our new single What the French Call "Les Incompétents" was inspired by Home Alone, and fueled by pizza hut and dominos. A mid-90s wet dream of excess! We wrote a bunch of songs and then our pal Brian brought his shit over from Buffalo to record the songs aaaaaaaaaaand that's about it. Memories can be fuzzy.

Lily & Madeleine - Acoustic Sessions - 2014

Truly outstanding sister act... This release strips them down to the basics and gives the listener a real treat in songwriting.
The best 5 bucks you could spend today!

Go back to the beginning, when it was just a piano, guitar and two undiscovered voices. This stripped down form lends itself to the elegance and power of sister’s, Lily & Madeleine Jurkiewicz, dynamic voices. The beautiful simplicity of acoustic recordings helped the sisters reach viral fame in 2012 and will now be featured on Lily and Madeleine Acoustic Sessions.

Like truth, beauty resides in simplicity. When it manifests itself, it doesn’t require elaborate arguments or proofs; you can’t debate someone into apprehending it. It’s apparent and all it requires is appreciation, or perhaps even love. Such are the songs of Lily & Madeleine.

All while recording and releasing two albums, The Weight of the Globe EP and Lily & Madeleine LP, touring Europe and the US, the songstress sisters have been recording acoustic versions of their hits. Lily & Madeleine Acoustic Sessions is an intimate reworking of previous tracks and a striking cover of “Sea of Love” by Phil Phillips, popularized by Cat Power

The songs on Lily & Madeleine Acoustic Session trigger profound emotional effects. The shimmering recollections of that summer, that girl, that kiss, the scent of that evening air, the heat of those afternoons, all float in and out of consciousness as these songs play, transporting you to the world inside you that knows everywhere you have been, but that does not know time, or its passage, or its end.

KNOWER - I Must Be Dreaming - 2014

I was searching, always dreaming
Being lonely was my way
I had no one who could please me
Then you took my breath away

Right before my eyes
You came into my life
Filled my heart’s empty space
I’ve been waiting for you
A love that’s real and true
Now we’re face to face

I must be dreaming, dreaming
Can’t believe that you’re next to me
It’s you with me
Always dreamed of a love so deep
Dreaming, dreaming
Could this really be happening?
I must be dreaming

I was running, always chasing
Watching love slip through my hands
There was no sign of somebody
Who could really understand

Right before my eyes
You came into my life
Filled my heart’s empty space
I’ve been waiting for you
A love that’s real and true
Now we’re face to face

I must be dreaming, dreaming
Can’t believe that you’re next to me
It’s you with me
Always dreamed of a love so deep
Dreaming, dreaming
Could this really be happening?
I must be dreaming

LA’s pop duo, KNOWER is excited to release a summer single, “ I Must Be Dreaming”.  After the successful hometown show at the Satellite in late April, the duo has gone back to their studio working for a new album.  The happy smooth new single shows a slightly different side of the unit and the first taste of the new album, which will be released early next year.

Hazey Jane - Being In Mint Condition - 2014

DZ13 showcases the work of Hazey Jane, the serene sample-based folktronic pop project of Jeroen de Meyer from Belgium, drawing from styles of artists like of Bibio, Baths, and Blithe Field

Being In Mint Condition conjures up the type of melancholy summer memories that will ease your mind with breezy warm sentiment, coat your skin in glistening balmy glaze, and stir up your thirst for an ice-chilled glass of nostalgia. The album greets you with a woozy and warbled uncoiling of warped textures that hover like refracting heat waves on the horizon. Jovial melodies shine through fuzzy muffled wails and slow grating rhythms as the sun begins to peak. Aural anodyne flows like sand sifting down a synesthetic hourglass while the divine afternoon auras dissolve and make way for the otherworldly glow blown in by evening tides. Dusk fades to darkness, a shimmering hum resonates in the air and the firelight dwindles down to reveal a boundless black canvas speckled with of soft celestial tones. The hushed ambience envelopes you and your eyes grow heavy as the ocean withdraws back into itself.
