Since emerging from Vermont's DIY underground in the mid-2000s, Lincoln Halloran has built a body of work distinguished by its startling intimacy. Across a string of beloved records, his songs have occupied a rare space, full of details drawn from lived experience and transformed into something larger. His writing has always been less concerned with resolution than observation: half-remembered encounters and emotional afterimages that remain long after a moment has passed. "In Hell" embodies that gift. Written as an attempt to create a more overtly pop-minded, jangle-driven song, the track glides forward on bright guitar lines and an understated melodic ease.

this collection of songs are dedicated to our baby daughter Poppy who unfortunately passed away in December 2023 at just a couple of days old.

the grief of losing a child has really taken its toll - the only real thing I have had to cling onto is making music.

I started tentatively making some new songs before Poppy was born but had to put all that on hold when she arrived.

after she died and we’d had her funeral, I returned to the nebulous versions I had made and was totally overwhelmed by how they resonated with what had happened.

the vibe and words were so on point it was crazy, like the songs knew what was coming.

so I kept at them and finished them and here they are.

Ten Brocades pulls from songs written and recorded over the last two years. Mike Ramos (Tony Jay, Flowertown) and Karina Gill (Cindy, Flowertown) played on and helped record the backing tracks for "Barong Mask," "Nail In The Coffin," "The Broken Playwright Waits," and "Barefoot On The Burning Marble." All of the recordings were started on cassette 8-track or cassette 4-track, then expanded upon digitally.

piglet's previous work has garnered significant attention and acclaim. His seven songs EPreleased via Blue Flowers featured standout tracks such as "it isnt fair," which addresses the injustices of British healthcare for trans people, and "to you tonight," a celebration of queer identity. The EP and follow up single “building site outside,” also a deeply personal exploration about the trans experience, led to piglet being selected as part of The Face's One To Watch 23 series and profiled by notable publications So Young and Loud & Quiet. Additionally, his music videos, created in collaboration with trans filmmaker Harv Frost, have supported fundraising efforts for the We Exist charity.

"It’s a collection of songs! They reflect the ups and downs of my recent years, express desires and sum up my feelings, softly stumbling through my early twenties. They were recorded over a longer period of time. For example the song Luke Lover was an overdub from when I first got my looper five or six years ago. Weit Weg and Seq.1 are the most recent ones, played with a synthesizer and a keyboard. Some I recorded at home, some at our practice space on a fostex tape-machine.“
