Jaco Jaco • Wager • 2026

I bet the world and kept the wager
Don’t like to see you so sad
No column in the hall of fame
I only played the game
I wonder if we’ll find each other
Through those wings with eyes
Trapped in a phosphor almond glow
Where grass don’t grow

Its okay if what is right for me is wrong for you
Did it ever occur to you to try out something new?

best of 2024 • Nemahsis • Coloured Concrete

Its latest preview, "coloured concrete," arrives alongside a music video directed by Hasan's frequent collaborators Norman Wong and Amy Gardner.

With a steady pulse that crescendoes in the chorus as the artist sings hooky vocables and lyrics reflecting on dreaming of a certain unattainable lifestyle growing up, it's a prime example of Nemahsis's poised, thought-provoking and effortlessly catchy alt-pop approach. exclaim!

Half Happy • Bloom • 2024

Detailing their latest release, frontwoman Rosalie Miller revealed: “‘Bloom’ is about getting caught in the middle of your mate’s relationships. For the first minute of the track you are almost trapped by the vocal and synth, just like you’re stuck in an awkward conversation. You have no idea how you can help, what to say, don’t want to drop anyone in it. Then going into the chorus has always felt to us like jumping into the sea, feels like a huge relief how the guitars and synth swell together. A floaty relationship track which doesn’t know yet whether to love them or dump them”.

Beau • Dreamer • 2021

NYC alt-pop duo Beau (consisting of singer/songwriters Heather Goldin and Emma Jenney) make dreamy indie pop that straddles the line between atmospheric '60s folk and frenetic late '70s punk. Heather and Emma grew up children of painters in Greenwich Village and became fast friends at a young age. Originally calling themselves "The Boos" and playing gigs around NYC, a trip to France inspired a name change to Beau [the masculine term for beautiful in French] and the rest is history. Lead singer Heather sounds like Karen O, dances like Jim Morrison, and entrances like Lana Del Rey. Emma is equally captivating, she's the Keith to Heather's Mick.

Frederick the Younger • "Back to the Wall" • 2019

https://fredericktheyounger.com

Back to the Wall: I woke up one day and really wanted to write an upbeat song. I tend to write moodier songs. They're more in my DNA. Back to the wall is the song that came out of that intention. The funny thing is that the lyrics are pretty serious for what to me is an easy going song. It's about Aaron's and I's relationship. About the intensity of living, working and spending almost all your time with your partner. Things reach a tipping point and we have these almost scripted reactions. We play out the same patterns. The song is me trying to release some of my emotions. Obviously there are highs and lows in every relationship and I've written a lot of love songs to Aaron but this is more of a relationship song.

Elley Duhé - SAVIOR (Live) - 2018

A year ago Duhé was an impressive talent standing in the shadows. But after a wild summer riding her Zedd collabo "Happy Now," and making a dent on her own with "Way Down Low," the Alabama native is enjoying the spotlight a bit. Deservedly so. You can hear Duhé's pop skills from a mile away, so it seems right that she's hitting a stride as we move toward 2019.

PowPig - Buzz Buzz - 2018

R When listening to new music like this I feel fortunate to live in an age when young women with large creative brains have liberty and access to adequate tools for expressing their formidable talents. And I've heard these four are yet mere young sprouts in life, from which I expect in the future a lush garden to grow. Looking forward to their next recordings. (Don't miss their Denture Adventure while you're grazing.)
