Clearance is guitarist/vocalist Mike Bellis and drummer Arthur Velez. The pair first started playing together in assorted basements around Ann Arbor, calling themselves the Fine Printers and stumbling through drunken covers of forgotten gems by groups like Television or the Velvets, all the while sharpening a slanted pop vocabulary of their own.
