Best of 2019 • Tinariwen • Amadjar
There is a hazy expansiveness to Tuareg band Tinariwen’s music that recalls the desert setting in which it was created. Fuzzy guitars are rhythmically picked over undulating rhythms and gravelly baritone vocals; it is almost as if you can hear a sand-laden breeze passing between the mics as the band record.
This is a band that has been in existence, in one form or another, since 1979. Never resorting to cliche, they continue to be just as inspired by the universal themes of love, politics and nature as they always have been. Their musical delivery is just as heartfelt and forceful for it.

Rolan Bolanalso provides commentary on his collaboration with BIC and Wayne Hussey to re-create his father’s seminal T. Rex track ‘20th Century Man’.

Wisconsin Stories: Trapper Schoepp - 2018
Xtra Mile Recordings is excited to announce that Wisconsin-based Trapper Schoepp's new album, Primetime Illusion, will be released worldwide on January 25, 2019. Produced in Milwaukee by Pat Sansone (Wilco, Robyn Hitchcock), Primetime Illusion sees Schoepp reaching for his own place in the canon with a truly remarkable collection of character-driven songs and stories, a carefully etched series of sonic snapshots in which people we all know struggle to fulfill their own American dream. The album also features a co-write with Bob Dylan called, "On, Wisconsin." Rolling Stone premiered the song today alongside a Q&A with Schoepp, and the state of Wisconsin shot a mini documentary about it.
