SIANspheric - Writing the Future in Letters of Fire - 2016

the record releases a good dose of Canadiana shoegaze - airy textures swoon into each other then collapse, only to reemerge with more energy.

Tenfold - Before We Go Somewhere - 2016

Quite beautiful bared down folk songs with lots of character in the vocals.

Chickn - 2016

This is a radio zapping on a 68-minute car drive. This is a field unfolding in front of your very eyes and at the same time a call of wandering. This is an attempt of some people to invent themselves through playing. This is Jetztzeit rock. A sound conceived as jump in the free sky of history.

Loop Line - Shadows Grow - 2016

Halloween-inspired song

You're staring at the ceiling, what are you looking for?
Why do you grip your pillow at every closing door?
I know your sorrows are longer than the shadows grow

Can you feel it?
Running through your bones
Can you feel it?
As you watch the shadows grow
Feel it
Can you feel it?
Breathing down your neck

Aloric - Fate - 2016

Drawing influence from Sigur Rós, Björk, Radiohead, Keaton Henson and Jeff Buckley.

Great release; so much depth and melody that make up this record. Flashes of Joy Division, New Order, the Cure…

Constant and True — A Tribute to the Songs of Rose Melberg - 2016

Rose Melberg is indiepop royalty. As primary songwriter for one of the very first American indiepop bands, Tiger Trap, she played an indispensable part in furthering the indiepop movement in the U.S. She went on to release music both as a solo artist and as a member of the bands Go Sailor, The Softies, Gaze, Brave Irene, Tally Ho!, PUPS, Imaginary Pants and Knife Pleats, with sounds ranging from fragile, wistful folk to giddy, fizzy cuddlecore to sophisticated, almost jazzy, pop. Her music as been released on such labels as K Records, Double Agent, Kingfisher Bluez, Kill Rock Stars, Slumberland Records, Where It’s At Is Where You Are and Lost Sounds Tapes, just to name a few.

Kevin Morby - Beautiful Strangers b/w No Place To Fall - 2016

So here are two songs, "Beautiful Strangers" as well as my cover of Townes Van Zandt's "No Place To Fall" that I have been closing my live show with over the past year. Any purchase of these two songs will go to support the work of Everytown For Gun Safety - an organization I have followed for quite some time. I believe in and support them in their efforts to make the world a safer place. So if you wish - you can donate as little or large as you'd like and I do hope you enjoy the songs. Do it for the kids.  KM

SANDMAN - WAKE U / CHIV - 2016-2015

dirty lo-fi indie rock out of LA… like the rawness - quiet good!

Cosines - Transitions - 2016

“A cool and mannered (but not overmannered) exploration of a musical world bordered by Stereolab, Blondie, Saint Etienne, Belle and Sebastian and a band your mates formed at school that you wish you were in…”
The Sunday Times

Shake Your Halo Down - Pictures - 2016

Happy Accidents - California - 2016

MOLLY DRAG - Fear Mint Vol. 3 (split with David F. Bello) - 2016

acoustic, ambient and dreamy… nice split

LINDA GUILALA - Accidente - 2016

We are still sifting through some of the biggest moments from LINDA GUILALA’s new album, “Psiconáutica”, an album spiritually connected in equal parts to MY BLOODY VALENTINE and LOS PLANETAS, full of immediate hits infected with noise and feedback. And now we have “Accidente”, a song that lets us get a glimpse of their most urgent spirit, a link to Iván and Eva’s past in JUNIPER MOON, though the main thing that differentiates them from the ancestors is this: JUNIPER MOON would have made 8 songs in the 42 minutes of this album, whereas LINDA GUILALA, in that same amount of time, have 20. Urgency and noise, psychedelia and ambiance, but above all, melodies.

Take Turns - Cryptomnesia Crept - 2016

"Stormingly good... flips between full-on slacker-pop and heartfelt indie with each passing hook" GoldFlakePaint

"(Their) Animal Fat EP is a full-throttle psychedelic thrum from the Pavement school of alt-rock." NME

"The excellent melody and eccentric, swaggering vocal quirks of ‘Finisher’s Medals’ set the bar for the EP’s level of quality" Raw Meat

Take Turns are four guys from Leeds who play fuzzy songs in the spirit of an indie-rock golden age; big choruses, noise, probably a few too many solos. They've supported Alex G, Merchandise and Tacocat, and have appeared at Live at Leeds twice. Their debut album Cryptomnesia Crept was recorded to tape at Greenmount (Pulled Apart by Horses, The Cribs, Vaccines) and mastered by Carl Saff (Guided by Voices, Dinosaur Jr.).

Oh Peas! - How to Come Back from the Total Annihilation of Your Self - 2016

This e.p is the result of a concerted effort to plunge a not insignificant blockage in the creative u-bend of my brain. The songs were a struggle to come to terms with which made the process a pretty arduous one but I hope you enjoy it.

Sisterland - 2016

Reminiscent to Yo La Tengo - nice release.

Abel - Trust No One - EP 2016

dark, minimalist female vocals haunt this short EP

Hope and Social - FEEL- 2016

n the tradition of the travelling bands, we guess we’re a bit like a Yorkshire E-Street Band...meets Arcade Fire...meets The Faces…meets Dexys Midnight Runners…meets Prefab Sprout…at a party...in an argument about who gets to have sex with David Bowie. We're not as good at describing ourselves as others are, so...

"a big sound from this impressive outfit...inspired, anthemic, great" - Q magazine

FEEL is the 5th original studio album by Hope and Social. Written and recorded over a two year period, we stole an 808 handclap and anything else we could get our hands on, chucked it in a bag and shook it all up. The album is covered in analog synths, brass, backing vocals. And coffee mugs. And ukuleles. Numerous home keyboards. A concert xylophone we found in a garden. Plastic trombones. A swanee whistle... And 6 different kids brass bands. And an elephant… flying a helicopter.

Lewis Fieldhouse - Theodor Washington and the Central Valley - 2016

‘Sparse but deeply affecting songwriting’ Clash

Fieldhouse presents to us his firebrand wit with a troubadour’s knack for both lyrical sincerity and absurdity. Offering snippets of life and coupling humour with calculating insight, his work evokes the sound of Eagles and Father John Misty. On his debut album Theodor Washington and the Central Valley, his ear for irresistible pop songwriting is undeniable.

Sam Brockington - Peace of Mind - 2016

The EP’s title track Peace of Mind, references the longing for affirmation, giving your all to someone but not having that returned. Previous single Follow also features on the EP and has racked up over 150,000 Spotify plays. The single showcases Sam’s intricate guitar style and delicate vocals, which combined, create beautiful melodies and effortless harmonies.

The Stairs - The Unnatural Bridge - 2016

A 2002 song for song cover of The Silver Jews' The Natural Bridge album by members of The Stairs. Recorded at 1200 Commonwealth Avenue, Allston, MA in two days. An experiment and a tribute, we had fun making this but don't think it stands up. Only listen if curious and a huge fan of the original. You have been warned.

Helado Negro - Private Energy - 2016

The music draws from his expansive knowledge of sampling, sound synthesis, recording and history of references, and the album was created as a performance piece in tandem with his Tinsel Mammal dancers. Present at each Helado Negro show, the Tinsel Mammal dancers, costumed head-to-toe in silver strands, are a visual representation of sound and a sensual gateway to profoundly personal lyrics.

House of Wolves - 2016

Really good songwriting…

LVL UP - Return to Love - 2016

“We have very different inspirations across the board,” says Benton, noting his own admiration for the writer and documentarian Astra Taylor, Corbo’s interest in the mystical and the occult, and Caridi’s attention to personal storytelling. The music itself grows from a shared melodic and experimental sensibility, as well as a nod to iconic influences like Neutral Milk Hotel and Mount Eerie.

Lisa/Liza - Deserts of Youth - 2016

Juho Multanen Ethereal and relaxing, like floating softly in a freshwater brook. Perfect for sitting in front of a fireplace in the fall when leaves start changing color. Favorite track: Red Pine.

Hello Shark - Delicate - 2016

Hello Shark’s Lincoln Halloran has the knack for making the most crushing verses feel heartwarming, simply because his eloquent expression raises the awareness that another human has experienced a similar feeling. September’s Delicate is Hello Shark’s first LP, and it promises to introduce Halloran and his introspective musings aptitude to brand new audiences.
